- Raymond C. Yakes, 91, of Delavan, WI, a lifelong resident of Walworth County, died Saturday March 6, 2010 at his home. He was born in Lake Geneva, WI on February 13, 191 the son of the late Charles and Florence (Judson) Yakes. On October 7, 1939 in Dubuque, IA he was united in marriage to the former June Delap. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations with the United States Army as a truck driver. He had worked as Nurse Assistant at Lakeland Nursing Home for 20 years retiring in 1961.
Raymond is survived by: June, his wife of 70 years, 4 children; Norman (Marilyn) Yakes of Dade City, FL, Richard (Roxanne) Yakes of Elkhorn, WI, Thomas (Dixie) Yakes of Delavan, WI and Douglas (Amy) Yakes of Lena, WI, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Greg Thibadeau and 2 sisters; Fran Gill and Marge Sapp.
A Celebration of Raymond's life will be held on Saturday March 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home and Crematory, 800 Park Dr., Lake Geneva, WI; Pastor Robert P. Rickman of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan will officiate. The Yakes family will receive visitors Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
